A hospital-based advantage

Reconstructive surgery often involves more than skin and cartilage: anaesthesiology, intensive care, imaging, pathology, and transfusion support. Practicing inside a tertiary general hospital means those resources stand behind every stage.

Tongchun Mao, MD

Deputy Director & Head of Aesthetic Surgery · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Aesthetic surgery · refined repair and contour refinement

Dr. Tongchun Mao is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and head of its aesthetic surgery service at Chongqing West District Hospital. A core specialist formerly at the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Department of Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, he has rooted his clinical practice for more than 20 years and personally performs over 700 operations a year.

Within the reconstructive team his role is refinement: detailed feature repair, scar-conscious closure, and natural contour work that helps a reconstructed area blend into the face. His aesthetic practice covers detailed facial-feature surgery, facial rejuvenation, and body contouring.

Clinical focus

  • Detailed facial-feature refinement and repair (eyelid, nose, chin, lip)
  • Aesthetic closure principles applied to reconstructive incisions

Refinement matters

Reconstruction restores structure; refinement decides whether the result looks natural. Fine closure technique and respect for aesthetic units are where the two meet.

Ke He, MD

Ke He, MD (何锞)

Deputy Director & Head of Skin & Laser Aesthetics · Attending Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Scar & laser care · adjunctive skin treatment

Dr. Ke He is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and head of its skin and laser aesthetic service at Chongqing West District Hospital. A core specialist formerly at the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Department of Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, she has worked on the clinical front line in skin laser and injectable aesthetics for more than 20 years, serving over ten thousand patients.

Reconstruction heals better with good skin care. Her service leads early scar intervention — silicone and pressure protocols, injection and laser treatment of raised scars — and manages the pigment and texture problems that scars leave behind.

Clinical focus

  • Early scar prevention and repair: silicone, pressure, injection, and laser protocols
  • Pigment conditions: freckles, melasma, age spots, nevus of Ota, and post-inflammatory pigment
  • Acne and acne scarring; refined treatment of eyelid-margin moles, milia, and syringoma
  • Full-cycle anti-ageing skin management: barrier repair and injectable rejuvenation
  • Vascular conditions and full-cycle hair management

Academic roles & achievements

  • Member, Laser Medicine Group, Chinese Medical Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Member, Facial Rejuvenation Group, Chinese Medical Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Member, Chongqing Plastic Surgery Quality Control Center
  • Published 5 papers, holds 5 national patents, and introduced 2 new clinical techniques

Scar care is reconstruction too

Much of what a scar becomes is decided in the months after surgery. Structured scar care — started early and kept up — is part of the operation, not an optional extra.

  • Laser skin care, injectable aesthetics, mesotherapy, and chemical peels

Skin health underpins results
